After much thinking and discussion, we will still offer web and BI services, but will not actively pursue leads/customers. If you need something, we are more than happy to look at what we can do for you, but other than word-of-mouth marketing, we are moving on to software R&D.

Our new strategy was brought about from a realisation that our current professions/contracts/jobs do provide a decent standard of living and focusing efforts on software development is more worthwhile due to its potential value. There's a lot of competition in the web sites and applications area, BI entails a lot of heavy "consulting" hours, whereas software can be developed over time without much risk or sacrifice.

The Behind the Scenes pilot

Roughly 2 months ago, we became extremely motivated to finally and seriously begin working on our future goldmine.

Since then, we have been planning and budgeting intensively, checking out fancy serviced offices (and some not so fancy), designed our logo and business cards, found a competent and passionate accountant (it appears at least one exists), began building the freelancer pool (we already have two impressive graphic designers and Flashers), came up with more seductive products and services as well as reading loads of stuff about tax, marketing, networking opportunities, competitors and all sorts of business know-how.

However, with semester 2 final assignments and exams currently underway, we are taking it a bit easier (ie only a couple of hours a day M-F and half of the weekend) over the next few weeks. After that, we're going to switch on the afterburner and expect to launch in January 2009.

We'll keep this blog updated from hereon for the purposes of:

keeping everyone and anyone informed of what's going on at Nadkie;

sharing our experiences with other start-ups; and

keeping a diary of our Nadkie journey from the early days through to the $200mil (minimum) takeover!
